Friends, compliments and self-talk

WORKSHOP: SUNDAY 12pm and 2pm

It’s part and parcel of the way women and girls are socialised to think: We can see exactly how brilliant our best friends are and all the wonderful qualities they have, but when it comes to ourselves, we often struggle to list our strengths. That’s probably why we also tend to dismiss the compliments we receive. ‘What, this old thing? I’ve had it for years! I found it in a skip! You need to go to Specsavers!’.

We believe this kind of thinking needs to be stopped in its tracks. People with a healthy attitude can acknowledge their best qualities without boasting, but also be aware the things they need to work on – And that’s exactly what this workshop for girls is all about. Devised in conjunction with leading habit change psychologist Shahroo Izadi (author of The Kindness Method, as seen on Diary of a CEO), this session encourages a positive mindset and each participant will leave with a souvenir reminding them they are awesome.

Delivered by Natasha Devon MBE: Natasha is an author, campaigner and broadcaster. She has spent more than 15 years working with young people on issues relating to mental health, body image and gender equality. You might know her from her LBC radio show (Saturday evenings from 6pm) or recognise her BBC’s ‘How to Live with Women’ and ‘Why Do I Earn Less Than a Man?’, Amazon Prime’s ‘I Am Gen Z’, or Channel 4’s pioneering body image social experiment Naked Beach.
